Supporting Care Watch on Giving Tuesday: A Global Day of Giving
November 22, 2023
Remember the date. November 28 is GivingTuesday – a global initiative to support generosity. It began as a way for people to do good – and as a response to the commercialism and consumerism of the holiday season. It’s an opportunity for individuals and organizations to celebrate and encourage giving to the causes and communities they value.
This year, we are asking members of our community to consider Care Watch and donate to our advocacy work.
For more than 20 years, we have been advocating for the services that keep older adults in their homes and out of institutions. We alert voters to critical issues, speak out to decision makers, and fight the ageism that hurts everyone. We engage with other organizations and the public. Our goal is to promote policies and services that support high-quality, accessible, and affordable home and community services. We’ve kept our expenses down. Our volunteer members prepare all our advocacy material. Our operational costs – for administration, website, telecommunications, and internet – are modest. Until now, a generous legacy has funded these costs, but our funds are now dwindling. We may not be able to continue our activities beyond the next 12-18 months, so we are asking for your help.
There is still a lot to do. Many older adults struggle to get the services they need. Limits on services, shortages of workers, and increasing privatization make it harder and harder for them to remain safely and productively in their homes and communities.
We need your support to keep our advocacy going.
When GivingTuesday arrives, we hope you will consider giving to Care Watch. Any amount you can give will help us continue advocating for older adults.
You can donate here.
Our thanks go to you and to our Care Watch community.
